I must tell you (if there is anybody out there truly reading this?) that my jump start into blogging is to enter a contest.. well, the possibility to win something, why not?
I have been researching the altered book phenomena and saving (I use this word in two ways) for almost two years... and have yet to alter a book. Did I actually admit this? Yes.
Back to the saving word, I have been saving thin cardboard, junk mail cards, manila folders, and anything that is colorful that could be used in a altered book or page from various garbage cans at the schools I work at. I pray I am not turning into a paper hoarder? I am very selective, smile.
Part of my dilemma and artist's block is the cost of: gesso which I want to get in the economy size to save (that word again) at the cost of twenty-three dollars (Blick's art supplies have wonderful prices!) for a whole gallon of the stuff!
Which leads me to will I ever get off the ground and even use it? Does gesso go bad (expire or become rotten)? Anybody reading this please respond?
I have also been collecting old (not moldy) battered (binding still sturdy) children's board books from the school library's discards, and at some garage sales. I have thought of maybe gesso-ing (is that a word?) them for a future family gathering where our female clan can possibly start their own altered book project?
Anyways, I stop rambling here and maybe come back and do some more musings? If you have read this... welcome and thanks for reading.
Peace out,
Antaria
